London, 20 February 1801. Uncommon. John Ker, 3rd Duke of Roxburghe (1740-1804), bibliophile. His library was auctioned in 1812, leading to the formation of the Roxburghe Club. "In the mean time, I think you may continue your Correspondence with your female friend, Mr P and Mr A have ever lived in great Friendship. There is no reason to imagine their friendship is shaken. Your female friend must judge therefore how far proper it may be for her to remind Mr P of the hopes which he gave her. A minister going out of office, if upon good terms with his successor, often recommends some people to his notice. I give you this hint not being able to do better at this moment.".
