Single leaf measuring 7.25 x 4.5", on mourning stationery of The Pines, Putney Hill, 2 pp, dated June 8th, 1881. Swinburne writes to his bookseller asking why the extra title pages of an edition of Victor Hugo were sent separately: "was it by some oversight that I did not receive them till a day or so after the books? It is inconvenient & untidy to have them separate or loose inside the volumes." Swinburne concludes by making his next book order. Creased, a bit soiled, letter torn nearly in half along horizontal center fold.
