One side of a plain, unprinted card, approx. 3-12/ X 5-1/2 in. Karl Muck (1859-1940) was a prominent conductor. His stint at the Boston Symphony Orchestra coincided with the U.S. entry into the First World War. After a scurrilous rumor had been spread in the press that Muck had refused to play the American national anthem, he was interned for the duration of the war and deported back to Germany in 1919. Maria Proelss was a noted pianist, praised by no less discerning a critic than the philosopher Theodor Adorno. Punch holes near two corners, where once secured in a collector's album, some marks.
