What if your engine is already capable of delivering more power, smoother throttle response, and better efficiency—but the factory calibration is holding it back?
Have you ever wondered what really happens inside an Engine Control Unit? Why do professional tuners achieve remarkable performance gains while others risk damaging an engine with a single incorrect map? And what separates true ECU calibration from simply flashing a file?
This is the practical guide designed to answer those questions with clarity and confidence.
Automotive ECU Tuning & Remapping takes you beyond theory and into the real engineering behind modern engine management. Whether you're an automotive technician, performance enthusiast, motorsport builder, or aspiring ECU specialist, you'll learn how electronic control systems make decisions—and how those decisions can be safely analyzed, modified, and optimized.
Imagine opening an ECU file and actually understanding the fuel tables, ignition maps, torque limiters, boost control strategies, and sensor data instead of seeing meaningless numbers. Wouldn't it be powerful to know exactly what every calibration change does before you apply it?
Inside this book, you'll discover how to reverse engineer ECU software, understand memory structures, interpret calibration maps, and develop reliable remapping strategies for gasoline and diesel applications. You'll also explore the tools professionals use, proven workflows for reading and writing ECUs, data logging techniques, checksum concepts, and practical methods for validating performance improvements without compromising reliability.
Every chapter is written as if an experienced tuner is guiding you through the process—asking the same questions you'll face in the workshop and providing the answers that matter most.
Instead of relying on guesswork, you'll build the knowledge to make informed calibration decisions, troubleshoot tuning challenges, improve drivability, optimize fuel delivery, refine ignition timing, and understand the relationship between hardware modifications and ECU behavior.
The road to professional ECU tuning isn't about shortcuts—it's about understanding the science behind every adjustment. Are you ready to think like a calibrator instead of simply acting like one?
Take control of modern engine management, unlock the true potential of ECU remapping, and begin your journey toward mastering professional automotive performance tuning today.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
