Autonomous Formation Flight (Hardcover)

Hardcover. "Autonomous Formation Flight: From Design to Experimental Verification addresses the critical domain of autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formation flight, a technology promising significant advancements in areas like enhanced surveillance, efficient logistics, and safer, more extensive exploration. Achieving robust and precise coordinated flight, however, presents substantial challenges, including developing complex control strategies for multi-agent systems, ensuring accurate localization in dynamic environments, effectively rejecting external disturbances, and managing integrated systems.\n\nThis comprehensive book delves into various facets of this cutting-edge field. It explores novel concepts such as mission-centric control, allowing a single operator to \"fly-the-camera\" of a UAV, and bio-inspired flight strategies drawing insights from dragonflies. The text examines robust formation flight control using sliding mode disturbance observers, alongside the meticulous design and experimental validation of complete autonomous formation flight systems. Further topics include advanced neural network control for formation localization via wireless sensor networks, and crucial considerations for DC supply system integrity to ensure reliable operation. This invaluable resource is intended for researchers, engineers, and advanced students engaged in aerospace engineering, robotics, and control systems.", "Autonomous Formation Flight: From Design to Experimental Verification explores the intricate design and control challenges of coordinating multiple UAVs.
