Are you feeling trapped in the modern work grind, trading precious time for a paycheck that never feels like enough? Do you suspect the promises of career ladders and job security are illusions, leaving you feeling burnt out, disillusioned, and craving more control?
You're not alone. Many are caught in The Cycle – dependent on jobs that offer diminishing returns on purpose (Truth #3) and questionable security (Truth #4), all while navigating a culture of performative busyness (Truth #2) and the myth of achievable 'balance' (Truth #7).
This book offers a different path. Not just coping strategies, but a strategic guide to escaping the system and reclaiming your life.
Authored by Mike Scutari, drawing from direct experience across hundreds of roles from factory floors to civil service ranks, The Autonomy Offensive: A Guerrilla Guide to Workplace Freedom provides a clear-eyed, actionable playbook for anyone seeking liberation.
Inside, discover 30 powerful 'Cautionary Truths' – incisive principles grounded in psychology, historical examples, and practical takeaways. Learn how to:
- See Through Illusions: Recognize corporate narratives (Truth #8), question the career ladder (Truth #1), and understand the myth of job security (Truth #4).
- Forge an Escape Mindset: Master your emotional responses (FAE - Truth #12), cultivate healthy disillusionment (Truth #11), define success on your own terms (Truth #10), and develop strategic patience (DSP - Truth #14).
- Build Real Autonomy: Erect strong time boundaries (Truth #19), master deep work (Truth #20), acquire independently valuable skills (Truth #21), build strategic networks (Truth #22), and create side hustles (Truth #23).
- Achieve Financial Leverage: Understand why your paycheck can be a leash (Truth #23) and pursue financial freedom step-by-step as the ultimate liberation (Truth #24).
- Navigate Strategically: Understand power dynamics (Truth #29), negotiate effectively (Truth #26), practice essentialism (Truth #27), and design your exit strategy from day one (Truth #30).
This book is for you if:
- You feel stuck, burnt out, or disillusioned with conventional work.
- You crave more autonomy, freedom, and purpose in your life.
- You want practical, strategic steps to reduce financial dependence and build real options.
- You appreciate realistic insights over superficial self-help platitudes.
Stop just surviving the workplace. Start designing your liberation.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
