The Average Gap: Why the Distance Between Ordinary and Exceptional Is Smaller Than You Think

You're doing fine. That's the problem.

You earn well. You work hard. And still, the people who've pulled ahead don't seem smarter or more talented than you — just a little further along. The Average Gap argues that the distance between ordinary and exceptional is far smaller than anyone admits, and that it closes not through hustle, motivation, or raw talent, but through boring, repeatable systems that compound quietly while you get on with your life.

Devesh Singh learned this the expensive way. He lost ₹ 1,85,000 on a single F&O trade chasing the fast version of wealth. He dropped from 134 kilos to 86 — then watched some of it come back, which taught him more than the loss did. And he started building real wealth with a ₹ 3,500 SIP, the least glamorous decision he ever made.

This is not a book about doing more. It's about doing a few small things on purpose, every day, until the gap closes. No 5 a.m. miracles. No motivation. Just the arithmetic of consistency — and proof, from one ordinary life, that it works.

It's boring. It works.
