Both issues published in total January and April, 1953, an attempt to revive the earlier Avon Fantasy Reader series and Avon Science Fiction Reader series under one title. Unlike those earlier series (which contained many reprints), all stories in these two issues were new. Indeed, this first issue contains Arthur C. Clarke's classic story ''The Forgotten Enemy'' and no 2 Clarke's story ''The Parasite''.
