Awake in This Life: A Guide for Those Climbing the Mountain of Spirit

Is it possible to bring the peace of an enlightened perspective into the middle of our busy lives? Spiritual teacher and author Michael McAlister provides answers in his groundbreaking new book, Awake in This Life: A Guide for Those Climbing the Mountain of Spirit. Written in clear, often humorous prose, Awake in This Life guides readers into leading more conscious lives and awakening to what is forever sacred and true in each of us. Less about a particular spiritual path than a comprehensive study of spirituality itself, the book demonstrates how to bring about profound realization into our day-to-day lives. Drawing from the deep wells of eastern and western spiritual traditions, McAlister shows readers what to expect on the journey, how to maneuver around roadblocks, and finally how to integrate the teaching into a new and more sacred way of living.

A former actor, standup comic, and Buddhist monk, with a doctorate in international education, Michael McAlister leads retreats and weekly meditation gatherings for the Infinite Smile Sangha and shares his teaching on InfiniteSmile.org. Dr. McAlister is an educational administrator whose research has centered on the integration of mindfulness practices in secondary education. He currently lives in Walnut Creek, California and spends his free time parenting his two daughters. He also surfs when he gets the chance.
