The Awakening of Dan Hanley

Dan Hanley promised he would not let going to college change him. He finds himself living with Margaret, his landlady, who claims to communicate psychically with animals. A dumbfounded Dan believes she has to be either a fraud, evil or just plain crazy. He tries to figure out her secret. A complicating factor is Laurie, the cute girl next door. Then there is Bill Saxon, neighborhood thug, thief, and animal tormentor, who takes an instant dislike to Dan. How does Dan deal with him? Will Dan discover Margaret's secret? Can he keep his promise?

I graduated from Morristown (IN) H.S. in 1961. I have a BS in Social Sciences and a MS in Library Science from Ball State University. Over the years, I have been a school librarian, substitute teacher, and part-time church secretary. I served on the board of a no-kill shelter for over 30 years. I fostered dogs that needed extra socializing before they could be adopted. I tutored ESL (English as a second language) students from various countries. I have always felt my true vocation is that of seeker of the purpose and hidden realities of life. "The Awakening of Dan Hanley" reflects some of what I have learned. Currently, I live with Howard, my husband of 54 years, and two cats, Buff and Tuck. I volunteer at the local museum and continue to learn and grow.
