Add to basketWhen this book first appeared in November1950 a reviewer in the Times Literary Supplement described its as "a complete guide, supplemented with clear diagrams and numerous photographs." It was published at a time when hats were an essential to fashionable attire, but the "mystery" surrounding their fashion industry production resulted in very little DIY hat-making. Eva Ritcher's book was aimed at making the necessary information availanle to enable the home dress-maker to add hat-making to their skills. In it directions are set out, with step-by-step advice coupled to numerous instructive plans, diagrams and drawings, Also included are full page b/w photo plates showing different stages of the processing and including. attractively set finished examples of hat-making, modelled by the author. Eva Ritcher was well known in millinery circles internationally and regarded as a "brilliant teacher and milliner." The last words of the book's introducttiion are " Let this book be your guide to a Good Hat."
