From Punk to the Love Parade-the eighties in wild West Berlin were filled with music, art and complete chaos. Mark Reeder (born 5 January 1958) grew up in Manchester, England. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany, as a music producer, remixer, DJ and Author. At a young age, Reeder became interested in progressive rock and especially early electronic music a fascination which carried on into the present. In his teens, he worked in a small Virgin Records store in Manchester. Reeder has been living and working in Berlin since 1978. He is the founder and owner of the German electronic dance music label "MFS" and "Flesh". He has been a participant and behind the scenes influence for many now famous djs and artists (eg New Order, Paul van Dyk, Johnny Klimek, Dr Motte, or Ellen Allien) spread over a wide cross section of contemporary musical genres.
His colorful life, from working in a small record shop during the punk era, to his move to Berlin in the late 70s where he became Factory Records German representative, to playing in new wave bands Die Unbekannten and Shark Vegas, to managing all girl band Malaria! - and generally being involved in the Berlin avant-garde music scene - has been documented with original 80s footage, in the highly acclaimed 2015 film B-Movie (Lust & Sound In West Berlin 79-89) for which he wrote the B-Book.
He is also the only Englishman ever to have produced an album in communist East Berlin. His musical career spans decades from the 60s, 70s and 80s through to the techno era up to the present day. Due to his own particular signature synthpop-darkwave sound, he is much in demand as a producer and remixer and has made a series of high profile remixes for Depeche Mode, New Order, The Pet Shop Boys, Inspiral Carpets, John Foxx, Anne Clark, Blank & Jones, or Yello.
