xxv + 326pp, small 8vo, original embossed cloth, small fragment missing from head and foot of spine, top corner of boards bruised, several small holes to front endpaper and title-page, now slightly browned. 'The subject of the principal poem is an encounter which took place on 20 March 1470 between William, Lord Berkeley and Viscount Lisle, arising out of a claim by the Talbot de Lisles to certain manors in the possession of the Berkeleys. The notes (which cover about a third of the book) relate to the forest laws, vilenage, Kingswood forest, Philip Mede and John Shipward, merchants of Bristol, and miscellaneous matters.'
