Michael Reader-Harris read maths at Oxford and has a PhD in applied maths from St Andrews.
He became a Lay Reader (lay preacher) in St Andrews in 1980. Michael married Susan in 1985: they have one son and one daughter.
He was House Manager for about 25 years at Scripture Union camp.
He worked at NEL (the National Engineering Laboratory) from 1981 to 2023 (MBCS, CEng, FIMA, CMath), measuring fluid flow in pipelines. He was responsible for the Reader-Harris/Gallagher Equation for flow measurement using orifice plates (used to measure roughly £1 trillion of natural gas so far). He wrote 'Orifice plates and Venturi tubes' (published by Springer).
He is responsible for a monthly service of Prayer Book Morning Prayer at his church, St Silas', Glasgow. He also teaches a Greek class and leads a Biblical Languages Weekend each year.
