BESWICK ANIMALS: A CHARLTON STAN

The Charlton Standard Catalogue of Beswick Animals, has become the ‘bible’ for Beswick collectors worldwide. The 7th edition, with the most comprehensive listing of animal figures produced by the ‘John Beswick Studios’ has been completely revised and updated.

New colourway additions, newly discovered models, and new pricing, together lead to a completely revised edition. Listings include model number, designer, size, colourways, issued and discontinued dates, plus a comprehensive table of varieties for every model. Thirty-two new colour pages have been added, with layouts adjusted to ensure this catalogue remains user friendly.

On prices, the impact of ‘on-line auctions’ to the market is discussed, how the three major markets are becoming globalized, separated only by the ‘deliveryman’.

Beswick cattle, along with the horse and rider models are two categories which are currently exhibiting great interest, now setting catalogue highs. For example a Model No. 1746A Galloway Bull lists for £3,000, while Model No. 1510 Dairy Shorthorn Cow CH. "Eaton Wilde Eyes 91st" lists for £1,200. Horse and riders models are averaging £500.00.

New colourways have been added to the existing listings of: Model No. 1813, Foal (Large Thoroughbred Type) in piebald, gloss; Model 1811, Mare and Foal, a grey mare and brown foal; and Model No. 2254, Fish (Stylized Model) in black and brown colourway. Also, three new models have been added to the Commissioned chapter: Alsatian "Ulrica of Brittas" – on ceramic base, Bulldog "Basford British Mascot" - on ceramic base, and "That’s My Boy", a bulldog and pup on a wooden plinth.
