viii, 660, [ii cat.] pp. Folding frontis. map with outline colour [fine]. Full black calf binding with gilt tooled decoration and all edges gilt. Five raised bands with gilt dec. compatments and rules. A lovely Victorian example of dec. binding. Finely printed by William Clowes. [Joseph Angus 1816-1902]. Binders ticket states B.West, Binder, Clerkenwell, London. A very rare fine copy of the 1864 issue. Several editions are recorded since the first edition of 1853.
