single sheet, 12x21.8 cm. Woodcut illustrations. A receipt for 874 pounds of furniture transported sometime in the 1880s (dated 28 February, no year). Oakdale, a town located on the Stanislaus River in the east central portion of the San Joaquin Valley, adjacent to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, California, was founded in 1871. It was an important transportation hub at the junction of the Stockton and Visalia Railroad and the Copperopolis Railroad and the Taylor's Ferry Crossing of the Stanislaus River on the road between Stockton and Los Angeles. The Tuolumne Independent was a Sonora, California, newspaper established in 1872. Rubber-stamped 'Wilson Collection" on recto. Old folds, good. (#167568).
