Illustrated with a hand-colored etching frontispiece by Al Barker, signed and numbered to match the book. 2.5" x 3". 105 pp. Bound in full brown leather by Grey Parrot, with handsewn head and tail bands. The text volume of this set of miniature books is composed of an introduction by John Merwin, and chapters on ?The Wet Fly? by Ernest Schwiebert, ?The Dry Fly? by Rene Harrop, ?The Nymph? by Poul Jorgensen, ?The Terrestrial? by S.A. Neff, and ?Small-Fly Materials? by Eric Leiser. There are two small hackle samples tipped-into the text pages. The second volume is a dummy book containing eight flies. Please note that the original flies tied by Schwiebert, Harrop, Neff and Jorgensen were all destroyed by insects. They have been replaced with first-rate reproductions tied by Mike Danko on size 20 hooks, and mounted by Sid Neff. The set is accompanied by the paperbound confirmation of order for the book, which contains a different hand-colored etching by Al Barker, also the original announcement for the book which contains a two-page sample of the text sewn into the announcement, inscribed by Oelgart, with yet another hand-colored etching by Barker. Also included is a new 8 pp pamphlet, limited to 4 copies, printed to match the original miniature prospectus, which describes Mike Danko?s process of tying these flies from patterns and directions in the book. The two volumes are in the original brown cloth covered slipcase. The original paper behind the mounts, printed with the names of the flies, is foxed, otherwise the set is in excellent condition, with new flies tied to the original patterns.
