Item description from seller

Folio, (295mm.), p.(189-)214. +4p commercial adverts. A large engraving on the front cover and 38 engravings throughout the text. Original self-wrappers, extreme fore-edges slightly frayed. Containing a short proposal for the construction of a railway bridge across the English Channel by John G. Winton with a large cross-section engraving on the front cover - a proposal perhaps no less ridiculous than Boris Johnson's similar idea ridiculed by An engineering expert in The Conversation of 19 January, 2018.
