Mathew Lyons traces the influence of England and its landscapes in J.R.R Tolkien's world famous novels. Written from both the perspective of an avid Tolkien fan and a historical/literary interest in mythology and the influence of the landscape on Tolkien's work, Lyons follows in the footsteps of Tolkien through England, identifying the places that most arguably influenced Tolkien's creation of "Middle Earth".
Mathew Lyons is a freelance journalist and writer based in London. Graduating from university with a BA (Hons) in English and an MA in Renaissance Literature, he has worked in legal and other business publishing, writing several books in the process, as well as editing and contributing to a number of magazines. Most recently, he has written for The Times, The Guardian, and History Today.
