Synopsis
From the age of seventeen throughout the first five years of her twenties, Omolara did not have a grip on her identity. Dealing with the trauma of her father passing away during her senior year of high school, she came to the rude awakening that life was fragile and could change in the blink of an eye. At seventeen, she wondered if her existence meant more than what her daily, emotional, drama-filled, life entailed. She questioned God about the reason for her existence. As she embarked on a journey to find the answers, Omolara used to social media as her diary over the years to unapologetically express her thoughts and feelings. It's also what she used to define her worth and validate her value. She equated her life's meaning to the depth of her online interactions, or lack thereof. For Omolara, continually identifying with something outside of her control and feigning for approval led her to have a panic attack. It rocked her world. Stripped of everything she identified with, Omolara was built back up by the One who taught her the truth about herself. Her romantic relationships with men, her educational journey, and her spiritual relationship with God are some of the significant aspects of her life through which she's learned an innumerable amount of lessons. Now, at twenty-seven, Omolara is not only confident in who she is, but she's also gained much wisdom and insight that has drastically changed the course of her life for the better. She understands that her power lies in the awareness of her identity and the ownership of her truth. And because she owns all of her truth, no one can use it against her. She no longer needs anyone's approval to validate her worth. As Omolara takes you through her journey from being a broken-hearted victim to managing her strengths and imperfections like a boss, may you be inspired by her experiences, motivated to take full ownership of your truth, and empowered to live an honest and authentic life of freedom from this day forward.
About the Author
Omolara "Queen Omi" Adedeji was born in New York City. At age seven, she moved to Maryland and began writing in her diary at age eight. Into her adolescence, she journaled about her high school crushes. When Omolara was eighteen, her father passed away and her writing served as therapy. Her journals were filled with vulnerable and honest thoughts, feelings, and prayers. Her father's death left a void, so she sought validation and approval to feel loved and important. At age twenty-four and living abroad in London, she hit rock bottom and realized that she'd never find her worth outside of herself. Just shy of her twenty-sixth birthday, Omolara took a leap of faith to transform her writing into a published book with the purpose to encourage her Millennial generation from her experiences, and to enlighten the youth who will carry the baton after them. Currently, Omolara is a licensed cosmetologist based in Dallas, Texas. Her job is to accentuate the appearance of her clients; but her life-purpose is to empower her readers to see, love, and accept their authentic selves to live a life of freedom.
