"Back to God; A Treatise on Confession, or the Sacrament of Penance" is a comprehensive spiritual guide dedicated to the Catholic theology and practice of reconciliation. Written by Reverend Fulgence Meyer, this work serves as both an instructional manual and a devotional exhortation for those seeking to understand the profound mechanics of the Sacrament of Penance. The treatise delves into the necessity of confession for spiritual health, offering practical advice on conducting a thorough examination of conscience and achieving true contrition.

Meyer addresses the psychological and spiritual barriers that often hinder the faithful from participating in the sacrament, providing reassurance and clarity on the process of absolution. The text highlights the transformative power of divine mercy and the restorative nature of penance in the life of a believer. By emphasizing the role of the priest as both judge and physician of the soul, the author provides a clear roadmap for returning to a state of grace. This work is an essential resource for students of Catholic liturgy, individuals seeking personal spiritual growth, and those interested in the historical development of sacramental practice in the early twentieth century.
