Back Roads

Back Roads is the long awaited third installment of the Broken Highways series from novelist and poet L. M. Mann. First he offered the subtly rebellious novel, Broken Highways, followed by the photographic journal of his final days on the road, Companion Storm. Back Roads presents us with Mann’s full length poems and proves as insightful, offbeat, and thought provoking as his previous efforts. In this collection Mann poetically details the long journey discovering his drifter soul on the back roads of America. Many nights he has spent bedding down in cargo trailers and abandoned school buses. In desolation he finds beauty. A cold wind slicing through the skin is a spiritual event. Riding an empty highway he bonds with the sun, moon, stars, sleet, rain, and snow, creating a sense of community with Nature and her elements. This is all Mann requires to be happy.
