Backpack Survival Guide: Don't leave without it. (Paperback or Softback)

This Backpack SURVIVAL GUIDE is small enough to take with you anywhere and includes step-by-step instructions on how to survive in the wilderness. Especially if you accidentally find yourself lost and have to wait for a rescue. But most importantly, it is a handy item to keep in a backpack so that you can practice these life-saving skills on day trips, or even in your own backyard. With it, you can practice things that will help you not only know what to do in emergencies, but be comfortable in wilderness places, wherever they may be.

It will provide you with many hours of activity ideas for "something better to do" by teaching you things that will make your life better, right now. How will they do that? Each time you learn a skill that could save your own life, or someone else's, you will come one step closer to being the kind of person everybody wants to be around.

How cool is that?

Sir Robert Baden-Powell is a real life hero, who wrote a book that boys all over the world learned the secrets of survival from. As the youngest colonel in the British Army, he was given an impossible job. To go into enemy territory and pretend he had a force of frontiersmen big enough to win the war. The odds were four to one... counting a cadet corps of boys from the ages of ten to sixteen. He trained these boys to stand guard duty, run messages between patrols, and pick up the dead and wounded from off the battlefield. Some of them even acted as spies. This freed up the "real men" for actual fighting. In a siege that lasted 217 days, his small group finally won an amazing victory. But he had a surprise waiting for him at home. The little manual he had written for "his boys" on how to survive, was being read by other boys everywhere. Boys who wanted to follow Sir Robert Baden-Powell. So many boys that the King of England finally said he could do more for his country by training all these boys rather than fighting in wars. Which he did. It was a movement that spread around the world within his own lifetime. That was the beginning of the Boy Scouts.

After a career in the Coast Guard, and many years working with youth programs, Jason Graham knows a lot about survival in the wilderness. He is the Wilderness Expert at Wilderness School Institute, and also the author of The Ladybug Buddies Adventures, which had their beginnings as bedtime stories which he told to his own children. He enjoys hearing from readers, and you can get in touch with him by sending an email to: Wilderness-Expert@SummersIslandPress.com

Dave Graham is a retired educator and founder of the Wilderness School Institute. He is also the author of GLORY B! 1000 MILES OF MISHAPS AND MIRACLES. Having traveled twice around the world during his Navy years, he has a love for the sea that stretches all the way back to his Danish ancestors. He has owned several boats-not counting the small stuff like dinghies or canoes that he built, himself-throughout his career and work in the behavioral sciences for troubled youth. When the near-forgotten dream of making a long voyage in a deep water sailboat pulled him out of retirement, he realized he still had resources inside that he had never tapped into. That journey led to things much bigger than he dreamed.
