Backwater is a literary post-apocalyptic novel set in a water-scarce world where survival depends on what you can carry. A lone carrier transports water across a harsh and fractured landscape, balancing exhaustion, loss, and the quiet weight of past choices. As tensions rise between isolated communities, the journey shifts from survival to confrontation, and ultimately, the possibility of uneasy cooperation. Sparse, grounded, and restrained, Backwater explores consequence, endurance, and what remains when systems collapse.
