Landon/Maine political cartoon dated 9.11.36. by Lute Pease and given too Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Bryam. Measures 15 x 17. Not examined outside of the glass. Lute was a noted editorial cartoonist working for the Newark Evening News. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his work in the 1940's. Maine had been considered a bellwether state in predicting winners but not in 1936. Maine and Vermont were the only states to vote for Landon. James Farley a Democratic operative quipped: "As Maine goes so goes Vermont".
