लड़कपन अक्सर ऐसे कांड करा देता है जिसका प्रायश्चित आप जीवन भर नहीं कर सकते। रतन और रूबी के ऊपर जो भूत सवार था, वह उनसे यहीं करा रहा था। इस उम्र का प्रेम वास्तव में एक आकर्षण होता है जो विपरीत लिंग की ओर होना स्वभाविक है। इस उम्र के प्रेम की जो परिभाषा होती है, वह आकर्षण और वासना की परिभाषा के क़रीब-क़रीब समतुल्य होती है। जीवन का यह पड़ाव अपने साथ सागर की लहरों जैसा वेग लिए रहता है। इस वेग को तलाश होती है एक मजबूत तट की, एक किनारे की, जहां वह टकराकर स्वयं को स्थिरता प्रदान करता है। तट या किनारा न मिलने पर यह वेग अपने साथ कइयों को डुबा देता है। इस उम्र में एक अच्छे रहनुमा की भी आवश्यकता होती है जो यौवन के इस वेग को एक सही दिशा दे सके, वरना यह वेग अनुचित रास्ते की तलाश करने में जरा भी देर नहीं करता।

रतन और रूबी के बीच अभी एक दूसरे के प्रेम का इजहार नहीं हुआ है। आमतौर पर गांव में प्रेम का इजहार होता भी नहीं है।

Ratan and Ruby are two school going teens of intermediate class of a village near Varanasi. Ratan fell into love with Ruby but the difference between their caste became the reason of their isolation. Ruby could not bear the shock and tried to end her life.
The story reveals the critical problem of our society, customs, caste system etc. Saurabh Mishra has beautifully narrated the story with amusing characters. The story also presents the beautiful definition of current love and affection in a unique manner.
