12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 137 pages; Circa [1878] Lee & Shepard, Boston. HC in publisher's red quarter cloth backed spine and color lithograph illustrated paper covered boards. Publisher's ads at rear for numbers 1-6 of Baker's "Reading club and handy speaker" suggest this example was printed 1878-79. Copyright is 1872 and there is no date on the title page. Soundly bound and generally neat. Rubbing and mild chipping to paper at board edges. Cloth rubbed with trace fray at spine ends. Small dime sized abrasion to the paper of the rear cover; boards bumped and rubbed at corner tips. Collects 13 humorous dramatic pieces which were first printed in Oliver Optic's Magazine. Contents bright and clean. VG-.
