Balance Over Bans: Managing Kids' Screen Time

Screens aren't the enemy. The all-or-nothing approach is.

It's 8:23 p.m. Your kid is under a blanket, glowing tablet in hand. You're at the sink, half-watching, half-guilty, wondering if you should just take the thing away — or if that's the wrong fight entirely.

Balance Over Bans skips the scare tactics and the strict screen-time decrees that never survive a Tuesday. Instead, it hands you a practical, evidence-informed toolbox for figuring out what's actually happening in your home — and what to do about it, one small adjustment at a time.

Inside, you'll find:

• A simple way to track real screen use without turning it into a science project
• How screens affect sleep, mood, attention, and language — and what to do about each
• The difference between a video call with Grandma and an endless autoplay feed (it matters more than the clock)
• Boundaries that actually hold up under real family chaos — plus scripts for the moments you lose your cool
• Tech-free zones and routines that don't feel like punishment
• Tailored guidance for kids with ADHD, autism, or sensory needs
• A sustainable, SMART-goal family plan you can adjust as your kids grow

This isn't a rulebook. It's a way of thinking about screens that respects your family's actual life — messy, busy, and different from the family next door.

Stop banning. Start balancing.
