Add to basketBarrack-Room Ballads is a collection of poems generally cited as released in 1892, but released and revised with additions from about 1889 on. This collection has 16 poems in the Ballads with 19 additional poems, including Recessional. "Recessional" is a poem by Rudyard Kipling. It was composed for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, in 1897. Rudyard Kipling, (1865-1936) was born in British India, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907 (1st Englishman and youngest person ever to do so) and became a significant figure in English literature and world history. Brentano's was founded as an independent bookstore in New York City in 1853 by August Brentano, who established a newsstand in front of the New York Hotel. Now a part of Borders Group, at it's height become the largest bookstore chain in the United States and had stores world-wide. Pocket-sized hardcover has multi-hued green cloth boards with red designs and gold lettering on spine, but no DJ. Top page-edge gilt and other page-edges deckled. Interior is tight, clean and text unmarked. Prior owner signature on ffep, ex-libris pasted on front paste-down. No copyright nor printing dates stated. Promoted as a volume in the Pomegranate Series. 1905 date is an estimate, following other booksellers date. No ISBN, LCCN nor MSR.
