Barry the Brilliant

Barry the Brilliant is an engaging children's story designed to encourage readers to listen to their teacher. To all the educators out there, have you ever had a student who thinks he knows better than everyone, even YOU?! A kid who thinks he doesn't have to listen because he already has it all figured out? Of course, we all have! Meet Barry, a clever, stubborn know-it-all who thinks he is smarter than everyone. Along the way, a fire drill makes Barry discover that he does not know more than his teacher and that listening is necessary to be safe and happy at school.

Lisa Flaherty is currently a kindergarten teacher in the Boston Public School System. She has worked in early childhood classrooms for over 20 years and has always dreamt of being a children's book author. Her ultimate goal is to create an entire series of picture books based on her many adventures as a teacher, with a focus on lessons in social emotional learning. Her role as an educator has also made her a connoisseur of literary works for kids ages 4 through 8 as she has read HUNDREDS of them over the years. Barry the Brilliant is her debut book.
