This book gathers together texts written by the artist between 1966 and the present day, interviews he gave over the same period, as well as the first documentation of his scrapbooks. Containing original drawings, photographs, and collages simply pasted onto sheets of brown wrapping paper, these works relate to the famous 'scattered' floor pieces that the artist has produced since 1966.Based on an exhibition held at the Cabinet des estampes du Musà e d'art et d'histoire in Geneva that brought several examples of these books together, this publication attempts to recreate the particular quality of the scrapbooks. About the Author

Barry La Va was born in Long Beach, California, in 1941 and studied mathematics and architecture at California State University and art at Otis Art Institute, from which he graduated in 1967. Known primarily for his iscatteri pieces, which he called idistributions,i from the 60s and 70s, he became one of the most important artists to emerge during that time. Le Va has worked and lived in New York City for more than two decades.
