About the Author
Before opening his own firm, Aisle 3 Communication Design, Paul Hamburger had been director of graphic design at Smart Design, an internationally recognized design consultancy based in New York and San Francisco specializing in consumer products, communications and branding. In his role as lead designer for the graphic discipline at Smart Design, he has directed projects for branding and identity, consumer packaging, promotional campaigns, display and merchandising systems, exhibit and tradeshow design, web design, user interface and information design. Among the clients he has worked with are Hewlett Packard, Polaroid, Toshiba, Issey Miyake, OXO, Joe Boxer, A.T. Cross, Kepner-Tregoe and LG Electronics. Several of Paul's projects have received awards including Business Week's IDEA Gold Award, several IDEA silver awards, How Magazine's International Design Competition “Best of Show,” and ID Magazine's Designer Choice Award. His work has also been recognized in books and magazines including Inc Magazine, ID, How and Print. He has been an adjunct professor of packaging design at Parsons School of Design in New York City since 1997.
