About this Item

Electrical energy plays a vital role in the economic, industrial and social development of any country. There are countless forms and situations in which electrical energy is put to use. Thus the study of electrical engineering involves an understanding of the electrical phenomena that occur in different electrical devices and systems operating over a wide spectrum of electrical parameters. A strong foundation of these basic principles, at an early stage in the programme of an engineering student will go a long way in strengthening his ability to grasp the multifaceted aspects of electrical engineering. Basic Circuit Analysis is one such subject that is introduced as a first course in the study programme of an electrical engineering curriculum of any University. The present book is an attempt to provide exhaustive treatment of the basic foundations and principles of circuit analysis, which should become an integral part of a student`s knowledge in his pursuit of the study of further topics in electrical engineering. The book discusses the classifications of elements constituting an electrical circuit, into different types depending upon the various attributes of these elements. It is also devoted to a detailed discussion of Kirchhoff`s Current Law (KCL) and Kirchhoff`s Voltage Law (KVL). The circuit interpretations of KCL and KVL alongwith their mathematical implications are also discussed. It introduces the idea of sinusoidal excitation where it is the steady state response of the network that is of significance. It also explains power in alternating-current circuits and the distinctions between real power, reactive power, apparent power as well as the concepts of power factor. Three phase circuits and the analysis of networks involving the mutual inductance parameters are dealt with. Throughout the text, worked examples are provided to illustrate the concept. We hope that the use of this book will benefit the students in terms of a sound knowledge of the subject. Printed Pages: 632. Bookseller Inventory # 9146
