Sharpley, Gaster

Gaster Sharpley was born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, and began school in Qumbu. During high school in Wentworth, Durban, Gaster served as an activist on various student organisations during the 1980s. He ran a number of small businesses before becoming a ward councillor and executive chairperson on the Mthatha City Council from 1995-2000. He was also the Municipal Manager of Buffalo City Municipality and has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Fort Hare and has several developmental qualifications. Gaster has written seven books on a range of subjects since 2004. His writing is conversational and easy reading that will appeal to all. Married to Lélanie, they have two sons, Johnathan and Garth. Gaster is well travelled and is a passionate motivational and public speaker.
