Basic Microbiology (Paperback)

Basic Microbiology: History, Fundamentals and Insights offers an exploration of the microbiology, providing a foundation in the study of microorganisms and their impact on health and disease. Beginning with an introduction to microbiology, the book covers the metabolism of microorganisms, revealing the biochemical processes that sustain microbial life. It then examines microbial genetics, uncovering the mechanisms of genetic variation and inheritance in microbes. Detailed chapters on bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa provide thorough insights into the structure, function, and classification of these diverse organisms. The book also covers the principles of immunity, explaining the body’s defense mechanisms against microbial invasion. Finally, it addresses infection and diseases, highlighting the relationship between pathogens and human health. Ideal for students, educators, and professionals in microbiology and related field, Basic Microbiology: History, Fundamentals and Insights serves as an essential resource for understanding the microscopic world and its relevance to medicine and biology.

• Explores fundamental concepts and principles of microbiology for a strong foundational understanding
• Details the characteristics and classification of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa.
