Basic Montessori: Learning Activities For Under-Fives

A perfect primer for teachers, caregivers, and parents looking to introduce Montessori at home

For more than a century, Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy has been adopted by schools around the world. Based on her scientific approach to child learning through observation and experimentation, the Montessori Method champions an environment where children are encouraged to interact with their surroundings and develop their own natural desire for knowledge.

In Basic Montessori, David Gettman offers a clear and modern explanation of Montessori's revolutionary ideas about early intellectual development. This book serves as a practical, step-by-step guide to the learning activities most commonly used with toddlers and preschoolers under five. These include hands-on activities for introducing reading and writing, counting and decimal concepts, science, and geography, as well as exercises that help develop a child's practical life and sensorial skills.

This essential volume helps adults discover exactly how their children learn and grow.
