From the Foreword: The author, not wishing to sell his book to a Publisher who offered to accept it, gave his manuscript free to the Buddhist Council of Ceylon to be published before the Buddha Jayanti in 1956. By the time the manuscript was approved by the Advisory Council and tenders for printing the book were called for, the change of the then government and policy, changes of ministers, general secretaries and directors, and the new stress on the National Languages have led to the Book's having been put off, till at last the author took his manuscript back.
