A Batter Way to Die

Wren Bellamy came home to reopen her aunt Ruth's beloved bakery, expecting flour, frosting, and maybe a little grief. Instead, a celebrated food critic dies after eating one of her cupcakes, and the party turns into a crime scene.

Then Wren finds a hidden letter inside a rolling pin-one that points to missing money, a quiet betrayal, and a woman in her kitchen who may have been stealing from Ruth for months. As she starts pulling at the threads, Wren realizes the victim wasn't the only person with something to lose. Everyone in Blackwood Grove seems to know something they're not saying. And someone is willing to kill to keep the past buried.

The deeper Wren digs, the clearer the question becomes: was the poison meant to silence a critic, or to stop her from uncovering the truth about Ruth's shop?
