The Battle for Beaver Bay: A Logger’s Tale

Having survived an abusive childhood, all Jeb Creaven wanted was a steady job, a pretty girl, and the prospect of a good life ahead. When life comes crashing down around him, he knows it is time to leave. A lumberman by trade, Jeb takes the next steamer to Beaver Bay, Michigan, where endless pine forests and prosperity are waiting.

Once in Beaver Bay, Jeb appears to have everything -- new friends, a new job, new forests, and even a new romance. But he also finds a life-threatening illness, a deadly rival, and a mysterious woman who seems to always be just outside of Jeb's vision. Will Jeb ever get the life he has been longing for?

The Battle for Beaver Bay is Brian L. Schultz's breakthrough novel of self-preservation in a rough-and-tumble world. Filled with the sights and sounds of historical details, Jeb's story is brimming with the flavor of westward expansion. Beautiful in its ease and brutality, the world of Beaver Bay will pull you in and not let go until the final climactic page.
