From the Micheline Guides to the Battlefields, published soon after the end of the first world war. 8.5'' tall, bound in tan cloth with brown titles, illustrated throughout with photos, plans & maps. This briefly gives an account of the battles and then a traveller's guide to the areas involved. The damage caused by war is also shown in the pictures, 264pp. Adverts on endpapers. 'In the memory of the Michelin employees and workmen who died gloriously for their country.' The aim of this series was to combine a practical guide with a history. 'Our readers will not find any attempt at literary effect in these pages; the truth is too beautiful and tragic to be altered for the sake of embellishing the story.' Ex reference library with decorative bookplates to front & rear pastedown, library number next to bookplate, stamp on title page & upper edge, two blind stamps within (see picture).
