Charlene McMann-Seaman and Scott Seaman are champions in the fight against cancer. Scott, a corporate trial lawyer and survivor of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, credits his wife Charlene (a former business executive) for his beating cancer. Together, the couple embarked upon a mission of curing cancer by helping to raise millions of dollars for cancer research, helping people directly through education and patient advocacy, raising public awareness through event organizing and media appearances, forging partnerships with companies, patients, and health care providers, and engaging in public policy advocacy.
Charlene and Scott are co-founders of Chicago Blood Cancer Foundation, a national non-profit committed to curing lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloma. They co-host Battling and Beating Cancer on the Blog Talk Radio Network and a television show by the same title originating from CAN TV in Chicago. Scott is the National Cancer Examiner for Examiner.com. Charlene is a Jefferson Award for Public Service recipient for her landmark cancer work. Charlene and Scott have since served on the National Board of Selectors of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service, which was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr., and Sam Beard to be the Nobel Prize for public and community service.
