The Beast of Basque : Tales of the Ravensdaughter - Adventure One

When Alerice Linden dies at the beginning of her story... don't worry. She gets better.

Having poisoned the town official who assaulted her and murdered her cousin, Alerice thought she could out-ride the Shire Reef, but after being stabbed she wakes in the Realme. There, Alerice discovers she is a Realme Walker, a mortal who can traverse the living world and the spirit world.

The Realme's snarky, gender-fluid herald, Oddwyn, brings Alerice to the King of Shadows and the Raven Queen, both of whom want her as their champion. Sensing that she has always been a part of the Realme, Alerice pledges herself to the Raven Queen and embarks on a series of adventures. Oddwyn assists her, but so does Kreston Dühalde, a former brigade captain with a tragic past.

And what is the first task the Raven Queen assigns? Slay a two-faced beast that preys upon innocent souls. Only, tasks aren’t always straightforward, and 'beasts' aren't always mythical.

The Beast of Basque is the first adventure in Tales of the Ravensdaughter - six linked novellas that deliver epic fantasy in 1-hour reads. If you’re a busy Fantasy Fan looking for a story of reclaiming your power despite your past, then The Beast of Basque is for you.

Erin Hunt Rado is a Fantasy Action novelist. Her stories are quick-paced and character-driven. She creates rich worlds filled with life. She prefers to shake things up, and she isn't afraid to walk dark paths when necessary.

Erin tries to keep things fresh, so you're not likely to find typical characters such as elves, orcs, or dragons - and you'll never find a dwarf with a Scottish accent! Rather, Erin focuses on people, which helps her characters come to life. World-building is important because people are products of their environments, but Erin would rather focus on why someone is heroic - or psychotic.

Can characters search for a magical relic? Sure, but the search is more important than the relic. Can rivals become friends? Sure, but there had better be a good reason for it. Give Erin's stories a try. She will take you on a great adventure.
