Beat It (Paperback or Softback)

It’s Back to the Future meets Pretty in Pink when a bestselling thirty-something romance author seeks the help of a grumpy, fifty-something podcaster to finish her latest bestseller in this delightful eighties’ mashup...

Cleo Quinn is a bestselling romance author eager to hop on the eighties nostalgia trope to continue her worldwide domination of the bestseller charts. Her only problem? She has a major gap in her research, dropping internet, cell phone and streaming references throughout the admittedly unpolished first draft of the next installment of her popular First-Timers’ Club series for Backstage Books. When her publisher tells her to clean it up or else, she turns to a popular eighties’ podcaster for help.

Wade Willis runs Papa Don’t Screech, a popular eighties-only podcast where some of the decades hottest stars go to wax nostalgic about a long-ago era that’s suddenly, inexplicably back in vogue. When bright-eyed Cleo comes to him for advice, Wade promises to read her manuscript with a discerning eye, but can’t get past the first chapter full of modern references, outdated slang, and, according to Wade anyway, an impossibly implausible meet cute!

But he’s intrigued by the enchanting young author’s earnestness and promises to give her a crash course in all things Swatches, leg warmers and Sony Walkmen. While spending a week together, legs aren’t the only thing being warmed in this delightful, opposites attract romcom that gives new meaning to the term “generation gap”!
