From Booklist
For the avid knitter, there can never be too many yarns or patterns. So expect regular stitchers to embrace Klopper's compendium of 250-plus choices, even though the visual and written directions will be far too abbreviated for many to follow. The book leads off with a look at the history of knitting, tracing the craft back to its first mention in 1530, when it was practiced by Arabic nomads. An important reference follows: four pages explaining the knitting charts and patterns. Fourteen chapters then showcase the samples, separated by techniques, from rib and cable to Aran Isle and lace-trimming patterns. Each features a color photograph of a finished sample, a chart of instructions, and written directions. Unfortunately, level of difficulty isn't indicated. Barbara Jacobs
