The Beautiful Life of Frances E. Willard Memorial Edition

WOMAN S TEMPERANCE PUBLISHING BEAUTIFUL LIFE OF FRANCES E. WILLARD 1898. I am pleased to offer here a very special volume, in very good condition, especially considering its age, from the Woman s Temperance Publishing Association. The book is titled: The Beautiful Life of Frances E. Willard Memorial Edition, by Anna A. Gordon (Ms. Willard s personal secretary for 22 years). This largish hard cover book (7 ½ x 10 inches, 416 pages) was, as mentioned, published by the Woman s Temperance Publishing Association of Chicago, Illinois, dated 1898. This book is bound in gray cloth boards with gilt titles and decorations on cover and spine. I counted 32 illustrations in the list. The title page includes a list of those who contributed to the preparation of this book. Condition: This book is in very good condition, especially considering its age. The hard covers are slightly soiled and dust-dulled and there is a small cut in the cloth of the spine (please be sure to see the photos). The gilt is a bit tarnished but still presentable. Inside, there is a penciled gift notation on the front endpaper and the mark of where a common paperclip had been affixed. There were a few interior pages which bumped were slightly dog-eared, now corrected but still showing a bit. Other than those issues, the interior pages and plates are quite nice, clean and bright with just a hint of toning (maybe my imagination). Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…
