About the Author
Jan Hermans received his PhD from University of Leiden in 1958 and completed his postdoctoral studies with Harold A. Scheraga at Cornell University.'He joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1964 and became a full professor'in 1970. Dr. Hermans'has been an emeritus professor since 2006.
