So, You've Been Given a Project

What do planning a wedding, renovating a house, launching a website, and organizing a family vacation all have in common?

They’re all projects.

And whether you’ve just been asked to lead one at work or simply want to understand how successful projects come together, this book is your practical companion.

Unlike traditional project management books filled with jargon, certifications, and complex methodologies, So, You’ve Been Given a Project explains project management using everyday situations that everyone can relate to. You’ll learn not just what project managers do, but why they do it—and, more importantly, how to think like one.

Inside you’ll discover how to:

• Understand what project management really is.
• Plan work with clarity and confidence.
• Keep people aligned and projects moving.
• Anticipate challenges before they become problems.
• Think like an experienced project manager.

Every chapter is short, and practical, no fluff guaranteed.

Whether you’re an aspiring Project Manager, a team lead, a business analyst, a founder, an engineer, a consultant, or simply someone who’s suddenly become “the person in charge,” this book gives you the confidence to navigate projects with clarity instead of guesswork.

Every expert project manager was once someone who’d never run a project before. This book is written for the person at the beginning of that journey.
