Synopsis
Lana Taylor, born and raised near the beautiful, snowy Colorado Mountains, now finds herself moving to Florida. But this tropical paradise does not have her nearly as enthusiastic as one might expect. She’s mortified to be uprooted from the only home she’s ever known. What will life be like for this sophomore, transferring to an entirely new school halfway through the year? As Lana reluctantly attempts to settle into her new home and new, massive high school, she creates friendships from all areas of the spectrum. To her surprise, even the popular crowd takes an interest in her. The year progresses, and Lana sees her life being flipped upside-down in ways she never imagined. Through friends, family, faith, and possibly a crush or two, Lana comes to not only appreciate her move to Florida, but she also begins to see it as the best thing that could have ever happened to her…
About the Author
Katelyn Dery spent the first eighteen years of her life in Jacksonville, Florida. Similar to Lana, she also moved from her home during a rather inconvenient time in her life. Being in the middle of a mission year between high school and college, she was not able to be with her parents and four younger siblings during the process. However, it was also through this mission year working with young teenagers that she felt convicted to turn her creative writing hobby into something more meaningful. If there is anything she is convicted about, it is that girls see themselves as the beautiful creatures they are, so much so that they are confident enough to tell the world they are worth waiting for. "God has a plan," she says, "and no matter how dark it may seem at the moment, look up at the stars and find peace knowing He's there, and He can't wait to show you what's waiting just up ahead."
