Before the Sink Overflows: And Other Warning Signs of Hope

A heartfelt short-story collection about ordinary people facing quiet reckonings, second chances, and the hope that keeps us going.

"Beautiful vignettes of hope…I teared up at least once in almost every story."

Have you ever wondered about the hidden lives behind the faces you see every day? The unshakable awareness of a crossing guard. The anonymous kindness of a cell phone salesman. The silent burdens carried by those around us. Before the Sink Overflows (and Other Warning Signs of Hope) explores the small moments and unseen labors that reveal who we truly are.

Three of the lives you’ll meet:
- A retired wrestling champion who finds unexpected grace in the game of pickleball.
- A father who uncovers the courage to face his past during an uncomfortable physical therapy session.
- A student whose writing assignment reveals far more than he expected.

Perfect for readers who love:
- Character-driven, slice-of-life fiction
- Stories that linger long after the last page
- Authors like Elizabeth Strout, Ann Patchett, Richard Russo, and Kent Haruf

These are stories about the everyday beauty we rush past—and the resilience that keeps us moving forward. From reluctant healing to unexpected connection, this collection is a gentle reminder that sometimes the most meaningful changes begin quietly.

For readers who find meaning in the small, unnoticed moments, this collection offers something quietly lasting.
